How is Baker House and the rooms cleaned?
All students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms. You are responsible for the cleanliness of your unit and maintaining our community standards as set out in the Handbook. Housing Operations has a lending service for vacuums, brooms/dust pans, and Swiffer mop handles. Swiffer wet & dry pads are sold for $1 and cleaning products and other supplies (sponges, tea towels, etc.) are also available for purchase at the front desk.
Professional UFV custodial staff members routinely clean all of the public areas such as hallways, lounges, common kitchens and public washrooms on a daily basis. They do not, however, pick-up after students, so you will need to help out by keeping your belongings in your room, taking out your own personal garbage (outside the building), and cleaning up after yourself in the community kitchens.
Students are expected to keep their shared living areas and the exterior of their room/unit doors clean. Failure to do so may result in cleaning charges or disciplinary action. Common area damage or unreasonable mess will result in shared fees, relocation of the students of the floor/unit, and/or denial of future housing applications.
UFV does complete a deep cleaning of units between tenants.
