Brightspace summer pilot – key information for instructors

Following a successful Winter 2025 pilot with 12 faculty members, Brightspace will launch for all Summer 2025 courses (except cross-listed/merged courses). This early rollout allows us to test performance before the busy August semester and provide proactive support.

Brightspace Winter Forum

  • March 5: 2:30-4pm – CEP (Room G124 and Zoom) – Register

Brightspace intro workshops

  • April 23: 10:30-11:30 am
  • May 1: 2:30-3:30 pm 
  • May 7: ConnectED Conference (multiple sessions) 
  • May 8: 10:30-11:30 am 
  • May 9: 2:30-3:30 pm

FAQs

How can I get a Brightspace sandbox to start testing?

Development shells have been available since Feb 18, 2025, for all UFV instructors.

Summer semester instructors will get login instructions including these self-help videos:

When will instructors get access to their summer courses?

March 31, 2025

How will instructors be notified?

ITS/TLC will send an email with login instructions.

Will their other resources be moved into folders with the same names as in Blackboard?

Yes.

Will Learning Tools work after migration?

Some third-party apps may need to be relinked (e.g., textbook integrations).
