The i2i Grant is designed to bring off-campus organizations (broadly conceived) and UFV faculty together to brainstorm ways of addressing questions, concerns or problems that the off-campus partner has identified as a priority. The format is simply that community representative(s) and appropriate UFV faculty and staff will share a meal and then discuss ways that UFV faculty and students might create and participate in innovative teaching, research, scholarly, and/or artistic activities that could help provide answers or solutions to the identified issue or problem.

  • Term: 1 semester
  • Value: $250
  • Deadline: Ongoing; applications will be accepted and adjudicated until funding has been exhausted.

Eligibility

UFV Department Heads, Deans Offices, Academic Unit Leaders, and faculty.

Conditions

  • The successful applicant will demonstrate that they are representing a request from an off-campus community or organization.
  • The applicant will organize a lunch forum and discussion session (approximately 2 hours in total) where the community representative will outline the question/challenge they would like assistance addressing, and the applicant will be responsible for inviting and securing the participation of at least five faculty (and as many additional staff/administrators as desired) to attend the lunch forum and discussion session.
  • The funding can only be used to cover the costs of food and refreshments.

Application process

A maximum one-page cover letter where the applicant outlines the communications they have been having with representatives of community organizations (broadly conceived) and clearly identifies the question/challenge/problem that the community would like assistance in solving/resolving etc… The problem must relate to the theme of Peace and Reconciliation.

Adjudication criteria

The Adjudication Committee will be guided by a desire to fund a grant that has a high likelihood of being of interest to faculty who may have ideas for research projects and/or teaching activities that would address the issue raised by the community. The committee will also be concerned with ensuring the project has the potential to contribute to the subject peace and reconciliation among and between people, organizations, and nations.
