Pericles by William Shakespeare
March 23-April 2, 2022
Adaptation & Direction by Anna Griffith
Pericles is the story of a man fleeing persecution who becomes a refugee on the high seas. It is also a story about a family fractured by circumstance and loss who dare to keep hope alive. Shakespeare’s rollicking epic travels from port to port in a tale where the sea that divides is also the sea that unites. With sea shanties aplenty, UFV Theatre will present Shakespeare’s Pericles in Winter 2022.

THEA 360 Adapting a Play: Pericles (Fall 2021)
In Fall 2021 we will offer a course on play adaptation, focusing on Shakespeare’s Pericles, Prince of Tyre. In the first part of the term, we will look closely at themes and social issues as well as past theatre productions, novels, and films based on the play. In the second part of the term, the class will collaboratively write their own 30-minute adaptation of Pericles. If the Winter term of 2022 ends up being online, we will use the adaptation written by this class as the script for UFV Theatre’s production of Pericles. This class will be taught by Anna Griffith who will be directing Pericles in Winter 2022.
