Grow your creative talent in preparation for a career as emerging artist, designer, performer, writer, or critic with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) at UFV.
As part of your BFA, you can complete a Visual Arts or Graphic and Digital Design major, or to pair two extended minors in Art History, Creative Writing, Graphic Design, Media & Communications Studies, Theatre, or Visual Arts.
As you explore new techniques and concepts in well-equipped labs and studios, you benefit from the guidance of committed faculty, who will challenge you to realize your potential and deepen your craft.
In addition to developing artistic skills and related knowledge, a BFA also boosts your critical thinking, problem solving, time management, and communication skills — all qualities that are highly valued in any workplace.
Throughout your BFA, you have the opportunity to enhance your classroom and studio education with interactive experiences such as gallery and performing arts tours, lectures by visiting artists and industry professionals, and exhibition and performance opportunities. You may also opt to study abroad to view internationally renowned art and architecture, develop your cultural sensibilities, and gain a global network of connections.

Global spending on entertainment and media is expected to rise to $2.6 trillion by 2023. In fact, the United Nations reports that the creative economy is one of the world's fastest growing sectors for income generation, job creation, and export earnings.
According to British Columbia 2025 Labour Market Outlook, the motion picture and video industries lead employment growth in southwestern British Columbia. Annual revenues for film, TV, and digital media combined add up to $3 billion. Consequently, opportunities abound for artists in occupations that support digital media, motion pictures, broadcasting, photography, and the performing arts.
Other opportunities exist to pursue a career in the field of commercial art and work for design agencies, marketing agencies, photography studios, and publishers. You may also find employment as a gallery curator, art director, or teacher. Or you may opt to be self-employed as a professional artist in your discipline of choice. Alternatively, you may go on to pursue further education, or seek employment in other related industries such as business, tourism, entertainment, broadcasting, and more.
