This 18-credit, six-course post-credential certificate is designed to fill the professional development needs of agriculturists who have either been away from agriculture for a while or who are recent Canadians with prior agriculture experience.
Explore important and timely topics affecting agriculture today, such as food safety and security, holistic agriculture, policy and trade, and more. To top up your learning, select two courses of your choice from a wide range of offerings in livestock production, horticulture crop production, agribusiness, or integrated pest management.
In addition to learning about the latest research and current farming best practices, the program also gives you a valuable opportunity to complete a three-week practicum in a modern agriculture business.
Work opportunities in the agriculture sector are abundant in our region: the Fraser Valley Regional District reports that the Fraser Valley ranks #1 in B.C. based on gross farm receipts. In Abbotsford alone, the agriculture sector contributes more than 11,000 jobs and $2.2 billion to the economy, or about 35% of the total gross domestic product generated in the city. In Chillwack, an estimated 29% of the economic activity relates directly to agriculture.
