What are my rights and responsibilities at UFV?

UFV is a learning community committed to providing you with a safe learning environment that is respectful of your rights, responsibilities, well-being, and dignity. As a member of the UFV community, you are responsible to engage with others in respectful and collaborative ways that promote UFV’s values of integrity, inclusivity, community, and excellence.

Academic conduct & appeals

Late withdrawal appeal

If you are unable to complete a course because of circumstances beyond your control, you may appeal for a late withdrawal.

Academic misconduct appeal

If you receive a finding of academic misconduct, you may file an appeal within five business days.

Appeal your final grade

You may appeal your final grade with supporting documentation if you haven't been able to resolve your concerns after a discussion with your instructor.

Required to withdraw appeal

If you have been required to withdraw and need permission to register in the upcoming term, you may appeal your Required to Withdraw status.

Academic record renewal

If you are a returning student with a low grade point average in the past, you may request to renew your academic record.

Is it academic misconduct?

The types of academic misconduct that are not permitted at UFV, including plagiarism, cheating, and resubmission of work.

Credit restriction increase

If you are on academic warning or probation and need an increase in your 10-credit restriction, you may request this through your program advisor.

Course repeat petition

If serious challenges affected your success in a course in one or more of your first three attempts, you may request to register for a fourth and final attempt.
