Wellness peers are student staff who are passionate about supporting their peers!
Peer support is essential to post-secondary life, as students lean on their network and communities to access guidance, support, and care. The Wellness Team facilitates opportunities to aid in promoting, educating, and supporting health and wellness through events, programming, and opportunities to connect. The Student Wellness team understands the importance of recognizing and celebrating language, cultural and gender diversity in our students. Our team is committed to learning and growing from each other's diversities and sharing this with the UFV community.
Wellness Peers play a key role in creating an inclusive environment for students, fostering student connections and promoting awareness of available resources, events, and opportunities at UFV. They foster peer-to-peer interactions, host connection-building activities, and act as approachable peers to help students navigate social and academic life at UFV.
The UFV Wellness team recognizes the importance of recognizing and celebrating language, cultural and gender diversity on our teams. Our commitment is to learn and grow from each other! Here is what we look for:
Sometimes when we feel stressed, one of the most helpful things can be venting to someone else. Talking through our issues and sharing feelings can be very impactful, and that is what the Wellness Peers are there for. They are not counsellors; they are students who are going through a similar experience. The Wellness Peers are there to listen and walk alongside you as you navigate your life in university. Talking with friends and family is not always an available or comfortable option. Wellness Peers can be there for you when you feel like you don’t have anyone else to turn to.
