What is a wellness peer?

Wellness peers are student volunteers who are passionate about supporting their peers.

  • You can find them at the Abbotsford & Chilliwack Wellness Centres.
  • Wellness peers are available to provide one-to-one health and wellness support when you're feeling like issues are hard to manage alone.
  • Wellness Peers are trained to ensure your safety and care are a priority.
  • Wellness peers are also well-informed about resources on campus and in the community. They can point you to supports that fit your situation.

Join the Wellness team!

Peer support is essential to post-secondary life, as students lean on their network and communities to access guidance, support, and care. The Wellness Team will facilitate opportunities to aid in promoting, educating, and supporting health and wellness through events, programming, and one-to-one support. The Student Wellness team understands the importance of recognizing and celebrating language, cultural and gender diversity in our students. Our team is committed to learning and growing from each other's diversities and sharing this with the UFV community.

Sometimes when we feel stressed, one of the most helpful things can be venting to someone else. Talking through our issues and sharing feelings can be very impactful, and that is what the Wellness Peers are there for. They are not counsellors; they are students who are going through a similar experience. The Wellness Peers are there to listen and walk alongside you as you navigate your life in university. Talking with friends and family is not always an available or comfortable option. Wellness Peers can be there for you when you feel like you don’t have anyone else to turn to.
