UFV-SUS food bank

If you're a UFV student facing food insecurity, the UFV-SUS Food Bank is here for you. You're not alone—food insecurity is a common challenge among university students, and we want to empower you to access the food security programs available on and off campus.

Are You Facing Food Insecurity?

If you say yes to one or more of these statements, you might be facing food insecurity and could consider accessing supports:

  • I worried my food would run out before I got money to buy more.
  • I ran out of food and couldn't buy more because I didn't have money and/or time.
  • I couldn't afford to eat balanced or nutritious meals because I didn't have money and/or time.
  • I cut the size of my meals, skipped meals, or went hungry because I didn't have money and/or time.
  • I’m stretching my funds to afford food and worrying if I’ll have enough.

If this sounds like you, the UFV SUS Food Bank is here to help. Learn more about how to access food support below.

Rethinking How We Address Food Insecurity

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to shift away from food drives to better support students in need. Here’s why:

  • Maximizing Impact: Coordinating food drives takes significant staff time and resources. By streamlining our efforts, we can focus on providing direct support to students.
  • Better Buying Power: Through industry partnerships and bulk purchasing, we can access higher-quality food at a better value, maximizing our resources and impact.
  • Reducing Waste: Food drives can sometimes result in donations of items that don’t meet student needs or are expired. By purchasing food in bulk, we ensure that only the most relevant and needed items are provided, reducing waste and increasing efficiency.

Want to make a difference? The best way to support the UFV-SUS Food Bank is through a financial donation:
