Sustainable UFV

Energy management & climate resilience

Energy management at UFV

Energy management and climate action are a key part of our commitment to sustainability at UFV. When we manage energy well, we are making sure our community has a reliable and sustainable energy supply. Our approach to energy management includes:

  • Identifying energy conservation and GHG emissions reduction targets
  • Incorporating our energy goals into UFV’s building designs and retrofits
  • Raising awareness and changing behaviours through educational activities and programming, and
  • Promoting leadership within operations, curriculum design, and research that engages UFV’s students, faculty, and staff.

Climate resilience at UFV means:

  • reducing our greenhouse gas emissions,
  • operating low-carbon, and climate-resilient facilities,
  • and increasing education and engagement on climate action.

Climate change has affected our campuses and community and we know that it will continue to do so. Extreme weather events — including floods and forest fires — are one example. UFV has aligned with provincial targets to create our Energy and Climate Resiliency Pathway Plan. This plan defines goals and strategies to help us prepare for and limit the impact of climate change.
