Career Counselling

Explore your career goals

You might begin university unsure of your career goals and may change your goals at least once. Effective career planning involves knowing yourself, understanding the world of work and sorting through the possibilities.

Make an individual appointment with a counsellor

UFV students may contact us* to make an appointment with a counsellor to help you clarify your direction. Your counsellor will work with you to identify your interests, values, skills and personality and then help you to determine possible careers.

As part of a counselling appointment, we first help you:

  • Target your career interests
  • Identify your primary and learned skills and abilities
  • Find your uniqueness in terms of personality traits
  • Research your curiosity about the world of jobs and careers to learn what else is "out there" in the job world

To help our counsellors better support you, please fill out this Career-Assessment and bring a copy of it with you to your counselling appointment.

Once the above primary research is done, we will then look at the careers which may suit you.

*Please note: Individuals will be required to provide their UFV student number at the time of booking.
