Biography

Satomi was born and grew up in Kyoto, Japan. She started to offer Japanese courses in 1994 after she immigrated to Canada. She has been teaching since then to all age people from two years old to adults. She was also running a private Japanese school in Abbotsford as a children’s after school program. Over the course of those years, teaching all different age groups, she established courses that help students learn efficiently and effectively while keeping them interested in learning Japanese. While she was working at Ninagawa Japanese School, she was selected to become an instructor for Japanese Language Instructor Course because of her outstanding teaching skill and knowledge. She joined UFV Modern Language Department in 2014 and she has been teaching as a Japanese Seminar Assistant since then.

"In my first year I realized that my passion was with French and it was something that was super enjoyable. I wasn't fluent to begin so it was a lot of work and effort but at the same time it was very rewarding. It opened my eyes to a new culture and a new way of life.
