Learn about PLAR
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is a flexible assessment process that helps you obtain credit in a course or program for what you already know and can do. The skills and knowledge that you have may come from the following:
- Formal learning—credit courses and programs offered at post-secondary institutions.
- Non-formal learning—non-credit courses, on-the-job training, and professional workshops where certificates are given.
- Informal learning—knowledge and skills acquired through life and work experience, self-study, massive open online course(s) (MOOC), and practical experience.
