email ChrisChris comes to UFV with 18 years experience as a vegetable farmer in Abbotsford BC. He is a Limited License Agrologist; his agrology consulting work focuses on supporting farms in business planning through developing business strategy and production economics. He is an appeal board member with Agriculture Canada’s Farm Debt Mediation Service. Chris has a particular interest in co-operative business models and has been active in studying agricultural co-ops in different parts of the world and developing policy approaches to supporting agricultural co-ops in BC.
Chris earned a PhD in Communication from Carleton University. He developed and taught the Business and Agriculture course in Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Sustainable Agriculture Program from 2015-2022. During this time, he also worked with Young Agrarians to develop their Business Mentorship Network and a series of financial literacy modules for their new entrant support programs.
Chris is a collaborator with a number of food system research projects. He holds an Adjunct Professor appointment in Simon Fraser University’s School of Resource and Environmental Management.
