History major
This section specifies the History major (discipline) requirements only. Please refer
to the
Bachelor of Arts section for information on additional application requirements.
Lower-level requirements: 18 credits
- Three 100- or 200-level credits in each of the following four breadth areas:

Canada: one of HIST 101, 102, 103, 105, 220, 226
- United States/Latin America: one of HIST 241, 242, 243, 261, 262
- Europe: one of HIST 108, 109, 110, 208, 209, 210, 213
- Asia/Middle East: one of HIST 115, 235, 236, 264, 265
Note: Students may count three credits from THEA 201 or THEA
202 towards their History major or extended minor requirements.
Upper-level requirements: 32 credits
- Four 300- or 400-level credits in each of the following four breadth areas:

Canada: one of HIST 301, 321, 322, 323 (or EDUC 323),
324, 325, 327, 328, 329, 330, 331, 396I, 424, 425, 426, 428, 430, 431, 436,
440, 484, 499C, 499H, 499I, 499J
- United States/Latin America: one of HIST 340, 357, 358, 359, 370,
374, 375, 396C, 396E, 454, 456, 457, 458, 460
- Europe: one of HIST 308, 309, 310, 311, 313, 314, 315, 317, 318,
319, 320, 390, 391, 392, 393, 397E, 397F, 408, 410, 412, 414, 415, 416, 418, 420, 485, 499K
- Asia/Middle East: one of HIST 335, 364, 381, 382, 385, 398, 464,
465, 486, 487

An additional sixteen 300- or 400-level history credits
from any of the breadth categories, or HIST 300, 399E, 401, 489, or 490.
Note: Of the 32 upper-level credits, a minimum of 12 credits
must be at the 300-level and a minimum of 12 credits must be at the 400-level.
History extended minor
This section specifies the History extended minor (discipline) requirements only.
Please refer to the Bachelor of Arts
section for information on additional application requirements.
Lower-level requirements: 18 credits
- Three 100- or 200-level credits in each of the following four breadth areas:

Canada: one of HIST 101, 102, 103, 105, 220, 226
- United States/Latin America: one of HIST 241, 242, 243, 261, 262

- An additional six 100- or 200-level history credits.

- Eight 300- or 400-level history credits
Note 1: No more than four credits may be in Directed Studies
courses.

History minor
This section specifies the History minor (discipline) requirements only. Information on additional Bachelor of Arts requirements begins in
this section.
Lower-level requirements: 9 credits
Nine 100- or 200-level history credits.
Upper-level requirements: 16 credits
Sixteen 300- or 400-level history
credits.
Note: No more than four credits may be in Directed Studies courses.
Note: Students may count EDUC 323 toward the history major, extended minor or minor requirements.

Certificate in Extended Studies in Arts
The Extended Studies certificate is designed for students who have baccalaureate degrees, who wish to complete the equivalent of a major, extended minor, or minor in History.
Entrance requirements are completion of a bachelor's degree from a recognized
university, and nine (if applying to the minor), or 18 (if applying to the major or extended minor) credits in lower-level history, with a cumulative grade point average of 2.33.
