Alternatively, interview and portfolio review (instructor’s permission).

Bachelor of Arts (Criminal Justice) degree

Current entrance requirement(s) A minimum C+ average in the following: English 12 and two other Approved Grade 12 courses
  Applicants who meet the entrance requirements will be admitted in order of their application date.
Future entrance requirement(s) A minimum of a B average in English 12 and two other Approved Grade 12 courses.
  Effective September 2015, entry into the Bachelor of Arts (Criminal Justice) degree program will be a competitive process. The following are the minimum requirements for consideration of entry into the degree program. Students who do not meet these minimum requirements for the degree program might consider enrolling in either Criminal Justice studies path, depending on their CGPA or high school requirements.

Bachelor of Social Work degree

Current entrance requirement(s)

Applicants must have 48 general university-level qualifying Arts and Science credits by May 1st of the year of application.

Future entrance requirement(s)

Applicants will be required to have 60 credits by May 1st of the year of application. The 60 credits must include 54 credits of university-level credits (at least 42 credits of qualifying Arts and Science electives).

Health Care Assistant certificate

Academic entrance requirement 2 (Please see the Health Care Assistant calendar page for a complete list of all entrance requirements):

Students for whom English is a second language may be required to have an English language assessment through the English as a Second Language (ESL) department at UFV. Students must demonstrate English ability in reading, writing, listening/speaking, and vocabulary at the 70s level with a minimum GPA of 2.33 (C+)

Future entrance requirement(s)

Academic entrance requirement 2 (Please see the Health Care Assistant calendar page for a complete list of all entrance requirements):

Native English speaker: seven (7) years of education in an English-speaking environment (can be acquired in either consecutive or non-consecutive years). Applicants who have had four (4) consecutive years of secondary or post-secondary education in an English-speaking environment will be given consideration to meet native English speaker requirement. Non-native English speakers are required to complete one of the following English language competencies:

  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): test must be within the last two years, IBT only – Overall score of 88 with no score lower than 20 in Speaking and Listening and no score lower than 20 in Reading and Writing.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic or General – test must be within the last two years: Overall score of 6 with a minimum of 6.5 in Speaking and Listening and no score lower than 6 in Reading and Writing.
  • Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLB PT): test must be within the last six months: Listening 8, Speaking 8, Reading 8, and Writing 8.
  • Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP): Academic or General – Aggregate score of 4H or better, with 4H or better in Speaking and Listening and 4H or better in Reading and Writing.
  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL): Overall Score of 70, with no section less than 50.
