About Our Facilities

Our facilities include:

  • Four large labs to practice all the necessary psychomotor skills to become a competent health care provider
  • One “drop-in” lab designed like a two-bed hospital room for extra practice
  • Three single bed Sim Labs + one two-bed Sim Lab

Sim Labs

Simulation labs are designed to mimic the real clinical setting in order to provide more realistic learning experiences and capture some experiences that may occur less often during certain clinical rotations.

Simulation is a fun way to learn and develop communication, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills in a safe environment.

The School of Health Studies has:

  • Three adult simulation manikins
  • One child simulation manikin
  • One infant simulation manikin

Regular Labs

The regular labs include equipment and resources such as:

  • Hospital beds
  • Wheelchairs
  • Functioning patient lifts
  • One (non-functioning) bathtub for practicing patient transfers
  • Various “task” trainer manikins
  • Student resource room
  • Quiet study/work room for health sciences students only
  • Drop-in lab
  • Sign-up with lab coordinator for extra practice1 in our two-bed lab

1We host open/drop-in labs two-three days/week (for current students only).

“This program has helped me develop an understanding of the health care profession and opened doors into the industry. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to work directly with patients and make a difference in their lives.”
