This article covers
- How to quickly see what sections and content blocks are marked for permanent deletion
- What actions to take if you don't want to lose content
Step-by-step It's time to clean up and recycle
As part of system maintenance, all inactive sections and content will be permanently deleted from T4 (myWeb) content management system.
Scheduled content purges
- TBD
- October 24, 2024
- January 23, 2025
Prior notice will be given for you to review the websites you are managing to make sure that sections highlighted in red and/or content listed as inactive can be safely deleted.
What you need to do
Review your sections and content blocks
Check for inactive sections in your site structure
— Inactive sections will be red. When the recycling bin is purged, an inactive section will be permanently deleted, along with any content blocks it contains.
If the section can be deleted, you do not need to take any action. If you think you may need to use the section again, set it to pending instead:
- Click the blue action menu to the right of the section and choose Edit section.
- Click the General tab and change the status of the section from Inactive to Pending.
- Click the blue Save changes button at the bottom of the screen.
Check for inactive content items in your sections
- Notice the coloured bubbles in the status column to the right of each section: the numbers to the far right in red bubbles show how many inactive content blocks that section contains. In the image above, the bookstore section contains 8 inactive content blocks.
- If a section contains inactive content blocks, edit that section and look at its content blocks.
- If the content can be safely deleted, you do not need to take any action.
- If you think you may need to use the content again, set it to Expire. Expired content will no longer be visible on the page, but you will have the ability to make the page active again at a future date. You could also move it to an archive section.
For a refresher on how to expire or archive content, see the T4 article: Content options (publish, expire, archive, review, delete)
