The Sustainability Action Pathway
The UFV Sustainability Office is developing the Sustainability Action Pathway (SAP), a plan with goals and actions to foster sustainability at UFV.
The SAP will guide UFV’s efforts to align operations, academics, research, and campus life with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which call for action to end poverty, improve well-being, and protect the planet.
The Pathway will also incorporate the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion and include measures to advance Indigenization at UFV.
SAP timeline
- October - November 2024 — Plan Development: The UFV community will have opportunities to provide feedback on what should be in the SAP. The Sustainability Office will incorporate this input as it develops the SAP with the consulting team at Sustainability Solutions Group (SSG).
- December 2024 – Draft SAP: The consulting team will present the draft SAP to the sustainability office.
- January 2024 – Final SAP: The Sustainability Office will launch the SAP.
The planning process
The Sustainability Office is working with SSG, a sustainability and climate planning consultancy, to develop the SAP. SSG will support the creation of sustainability actions through a combination of research, analysis, and community engagement.
The consulting team has reviewed existing practices and plans, as well as best practices from post-secondary institutions across North America, to develop a catalog of potential sustainability actions. These actions will be refined and adjusted, and new actions will be developed, based on input from the UFV community. The final SAP will include actions that reflect the priorities of the community, along with an implementation framework and key performance indicators for tracking progress.
How to contribute
Input from students, staff, and faculty will play a critical role in shaping the actions in the SAP. The Sustainability Office will provide a variety of ways to get involved in October and November 2024.
