email ElizabethBeth joined the School of Social Work and Human Services as an assistant professor in 2023 and is the current Human Services Program Chair. Prior to this appointment, Beth held LTA instructor positions at UFV and York University, Ontario, and taught sessionally at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario. She brings to her research and teaching practice approximately a decade of experience in the public and non-profit sectors, including in health promotion, diversity services, and vocational rehabilitation.

Beth has teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, including courses related to human services, practicum, social work practice and theory, social welfare and policy, and research methods. For the 2024-2025 school year, Beth is teaching HSER 120, HSER 130/HSER 131, SOWK 210, and SOWK 312.
Beth’s research interests relate to poverty, precarious employment, and health equity with a particular focus on women, immigrants, and racialized community members. Beth’s dissertation research explored the impact of precarious employment on the health of racialized immigrant women in Ontario. Her qualitative study was grounded in a critical perspective drawing on intersectional feminist and social determinants of health theories, as well as critiques of neoliberalism in relation to the welfare state, labour relations, and employment conditions.
