The Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Endorsement is commonly referred to in the trades as your "ticket," because of the opportunities it opens. Earning you Red Seal enables you to work anywhere in Canada and shows to prospective employers that you are a skilled worker.
UFV offers apprenticeship training for the following trades:
- Automotive service technician
- Electrician, construction
- Heavy mechanical technician
- Plumbing and piping
- Professional cook
- Welding Level B and A
As an apprentice, you learn while you earn and train under the supervision of an employer. The apprenticeship program combines on-the-job experience with formal technical training.
An apprenticeship may take up to four years to complete. Upon successful completion of the technical training and workplace hours, you become a fully qualified journeyperson. At the end of the program, you write a final completion exam to earn your Certificate of Apprenticeship and Red Seal Endorsement.
