Jane graduated from UBC in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She worked for a few years as a research technician in a biophysical chemistry lab and then as a lecture demonstrator for the first year undergraduate course in the UBC Department of Chemistry.
In the early 1990s, Jane came to UCFV as a lab assistant and then became a lab instructor for the first year courses in chemistry. The department’s first year labs cover introductory lab skills such as titrations, gravimetric analysis and qualitative analysis, as well as experiments which coordinate with the theory learned in lectures, such as kinetics, equilibria and organic chemistry. Jane always finds it interesting to meet new students and to watch them learn over time. And like any teacher, she is gratified to see the students’ hard work end in their personal success
