Biography

Dr. Amanda V. McCormick is an Associate Professor for the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of the Fraser Valley. She is also a Research Associate with the Centre for Public Safety and Criminal Justice Research. 

Amanda is a member of the Abbotsford/Mission Violence Against Women in Relationships Committee and a Commitment Leader for the Peace and Reconciliation Centre’s Community of Practice in Domestic Violence Reduction.

Teaching Interests

Amanda teaches courses on family violence, young offenders, research methods, and mental health issues related to crime.

Research Interests

Amanda's research interests primarily focus on intimate partner violence, policing, public safety issues, at-risk and serious and violent young offenders, and problem gambling. Dr. McCormick has been a lead or co-investigator on over 30 research projects, has authored and co-authored more than 10 peer reviewed publications and over 50 research reports, and has presented her work at academic conferences, symposiums, and sessions of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and Human Rights Council meetings.
