The Engineering Common Core Certificate (ECCC) is for academically strong students who are ready to devote their time entirely to their studies. The program is challenging and only a minority attempt it.
Only apply to the ECCC if you are planning to complete all 14 courses in one academic year (September - April). If you know you are planning to take two years or you already have a few of the fourteen courses completed, do not apply for the ECCC. Instead, you may take courses within the Bachelor of Science at UFV to transfer to an Engineering program based on their competitve entry requirements.
In addition to class time, expect to spend a minimum of 40 hours of work a week, and possibly up to 70 hours during mid-terms. The ECCC schedule leaves no time for part-time jobs or other out-of-school commitments.
UFV reserves seats in the ECCC for 24 students who intend to take all fourteen courses in the fall and winter semester.
Time Frame
ECCC students are required to complete all program courses in one academic year, with a required minimum GPA. Admitted ECCC students who do not enrol in the full program will need to apply to the Bachelor of Science program, provided they meet the BSc entrance requirements.

Program Completion and Transfer Options
Second, third, and fourth year can be completed at UBC (Okanagan campus) or UVic. Courses may also transfer to alternative institutions. Be sure to consult with the engineering program you are applying to for admissions and transfer details. Students must formally apply for admission to the destination institution, according to their application procedures and deadlines. Please refer to the Transfer Options section for more details.
