How do I download my files from the content collection in Blackboard?
It is best to save all the files that were used in your Blackboard course on your computer, to have an easily accessible copy of them.
Do not use the export package feature to save your files on your computer, as this option will completely change names of the files and folders.
There are 2 ways to download Blackboard course files from the content collection:
- If there are only a small number of files and folders in the course Content Collection, they can be saved by downloading them directly.
- If there are many files and folders in the course Content Collection (which may be due to multiple copies from past courses or multiple updates), it is best to set up a web folder to be able to copy and re-organize them.
How can I download my Blackboard course Student Grades for retention?
The Grade Centre can be downloaded as an Excel file.
Do I need to do anything once the courses are migrated from Blackboard?
Your previous courses will be migrated to Brightspace for your convenience, you will need to evaluate the content and choose to copy to your new course or start fresh with your downloaded content. Many instructors discover that rebuilding their course is a quicker and easier process, plus it’s a fantastic opportunity to explore all the features Brightspace has to offer. When will I have access to my Brightspace courses?
Access to your courses in Brightspace will be provided by Summer 2025. More details to follow.
Are all my courses and content from Blackboard going to be migrated to Brightspace?
Yes, Brightspace migrates all courses with the content. No student data or activity will migrate over to Brightspace. Your 2024 courses will be migrated in the coming months.
What if I need a course from earlier semester?
Once the 2024 migration is completed, you can submit a ticket (link to be provided) for an earlier course.
When will my Blackboard access end?
October 31, 2025
Reminder: Until October 31, 2025, you can download your course material if you wish to have them available on your local drive or UFV OneDrive.
How do I download my files from the content collection in Blackboard?
Can I still acquire my Blackboard courses after my Blackboard access has ended?
You will be able to create a Service Desk ticket to access previous courses. All Blackboard Learn courses will be backed up and archived with a retention policy of 10 years.
Will Brightspace have the same tools as I used in Blackboard?
The tools that you are familiar with in Blackboard will have an equivalent available in Brightspace, but some will look different.

I have students creating their Portfolios using the Blackboard Portfolio too. Are the Portfolios going to be migrated as well?
Unfortunately, Blackboard Learn ePortfolio tool is not compatible with Brightspace ePortfolio. ePortfolios will need to be rebuilt in Brightspace, which has better feature set. Please download all the artifacts to your local drive or UFV OneDrive from Blackboard Learn before October 31, 2025.
