The Peace and Reconciliation Centre (PARC) at the University of the Fraser Valley is located on the unceded ancestral territory of the Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe, part of the broader Stó:lō Nation. We recognize the Stó:lō as the original stewards of these lands and waters, and we honour their enduring connection to this place.
This acknowledgment is more than a statement; it is a commitment. At PARC, we dedicate ourselves to learning from Stó:lō history, governance, and cultural knowledge, and to understanding the historical and ongoing impacts of settler colonialism. We seek to build respectful relationships grounded in accountability, and to support the re-establishment of Stó:lō self-determination, including a meaningful role in the stewardship and co-management of their territories.
We are grateful to live, learn, and work on these lands, and we hold this responsibility with care.
