Transfer options

Upon successful completion of the UFV Engineering Common Core Certificate program, students are qualified for admissions to the second-year Engineering programs at UBC or UVic, provided they meet the entrance requirements for the program at these institutions. You can also transfer from UFV to other engineering schools. Be sure to consult with the engineering program of the institution you are applying to for admissions and transfer details. 

Once admitted to UBC or UVic, all students, regardless of their first-year institution, then compete for seats in different specialties based on their GPA; popular specialties have higher GPA requirements than the entrance GPA. Examples of specialities include Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering and Mechancial Engineering.

Students who successfully complete the Engineering Common Core Certificate program at UFV within one academic year are eligible for admissions to second-year engineering at UVic. UVic offers some of the most popular Engineering specialties, including some not offered at UBC. After consideration, a large portion of our students choose to complete their Engineering degrees at UVic.

Students who successfully complete the Engineering Common Core Certificate program at UFV within one academic year are eligible for admissions to second-year engineering at UBC, Vancouver Campus.

Students who successfully complete the Engineering Common Core Certificate program at UFV within one academic year are eligible for admissions to second-year engineering at UBC, Okanagan Campus.

This option is for students that are interested in transferring to UBC’s Engineering program and wish to complete the first year requirements at UFV, but not through the Engineering Common Core Certificate program. Students can take two years at UFV and take all 14 courses of the ECCC plus their second-year math courses and additional electives before they transfer. The competition for these transfer seats is GPA-based and the required GPA will fluctuate from year to year.

Wood science is essentially Engineering for wood. It is similar in scope and intent to a regular Engineering degree, but is administered differently.

You may complete the first year of the UBC BSc in Wood Products Processing (WPP) at UFV. The requirements of this first year are slightly different than that of the regular Engineering degrees, but they are similar enough that every year, several students originally planning on Engineering choose to go to WPP instead.

Students completing the Engineering Common Core Certificate program at UFV can expect direct integration into second-year BSc in Wood Products Processing at UBC, provided they meet the UBC annually established minimum grade point average.
