Deferring an offer of admission

  1. Deferring an offer of admission

NOTE: If you are an international student needing to defer your admission please go here.

Have you been accepted to UFV and had a change of plans that prevent you from starting classes when expected? You need to request a deferral.

You may request to defer your offer of admission for up to one year by submitting a Request for Deferred Admission form. Submitting this form does not guarantee that your request will be approved.

Submit the completed form to the Office of the Registrar at any UFV campus or by email to admissions@ufv.ca. Once your request has been reviewed and a decision has been made, correspondence will be emailed to your myUFV account.

Guidelines for requesting a deferral

Approval of requests for deferred admission will only be granted once. If you are unable to attend in the deferred semester, you will need to re-apply for admission, and will forfeit any paid deposits.

Approval of your request for deferred admission will depend on the program in which you have been accepted. Deferrals are not available for all UFV programs.

You may not attend another post-secondary institution during the deferral period, except by special permission. Normally students attending another post-secondary institution during the deferral period will need to re-apply for admission.

You cannot be registered or waitlisted in courses if you wish to request a deferral. You must withdraw from courses before submitting your deferral request.
