Meal Plans

Take advantage of a UFV meal plan

Load your campus card with a pre-paid UFV meal plan, then enjoy meals, coffee, snacks, and to-go items from UFV's eligible food service offerings, including Triple-Os, and the Spirit Bear Cafe, and the dining hall.

Meal plans save you the cost of GST on your on-campus food purchases. They also save you the time and energy of grocery shopping and prepping your own meals, so you can focus on your studies or connecting with friends.

How meal plans work at UFV

What are the benefits of a meal plan?

Save money. When you use your meal plan balance, you will save the cost of GST (5%) on your food and drink items.

Ensure good nutrition. A meal plan gives you access to balanced and nutritious meals, which supports your overall health and academic performance.

Build community. Sharing meals in the dining hall with other students will help you enjoy a sense of community and belonging.

Boost your food security: You'll have consistent access to meals, because you've set aside funds for food at the start of your semester.

What meal plans are available?

Your chosen amount will be loaded onto your campus card at the beginning of the semester. Use your campus card like a debit card or gift card on meal, snack, and drink items of your choice — the balance will decline as you make purchases.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ:
The following describes the Terms and Conditions that apply to a pre-paid Meal Plan.

Please keep a copy of these Terms and Conditions for your records.

Mandatory Meal Plans:

All students living in UFV Housing, for their first academic year (or semester) regardless of year of study, are required to purchase a mandatory Meal Plan. The Meal Plan fee will be applied to student accounts for two semesters (one academic year) with payment for the Meal Plan due at the same time as Housing fees. For students living in housing for one semester only, the Meal Plan Fee will be applied for one semester; if a one semester student returns to housing, the Meal Plan fee will be applied for a second semester.

Students who choose to live in UFV Housing, are choosing to participate in the mandatory Meal Plan as outlined above and included in the Housing Contract. Therefore, students who have questions related to food allergies, or specific dietary requirements (medical, cultural, religious, lifestyle, personal preference, other) must contact UFV Food Services prior to signing the Housing Contract.

* While we strive to address dietary requests, please be advised UFV Food Services may not be able to accommodate all individual dietary needs or preferences. No refund or reduction in the mandatory Meal Plan will be considered due to dietary restrictions.

Optional Meal Plans:

Students continuing to live in UFV Housing after purchasing two semesters of the mandatory Meal Plan may also purchase an optional Meal Plan. Any student attending UFV who does not live in housing, can also purchase a Meal Plan by contacting the Campus Card Office.

Effective Time Periods:

Meal Plans are effective from the official start date of classes day until the final day of the exam period each semester and closed for the Winter Break between semesters. Mandatory Meal Plans do not apply for summer semester; therefore, new students living in housing the summer prior to the academic year, will be subject to the mandatory Meal Plan in the subsequent semester.

Refunds:

There are no refunds on the mandatory Meal Plan. Remaining balances from the first semester will be carried forward to the second semester. Any remaining balance at the end of the second semester will be carried forward for an additional third semester to spend in the dining hall. Any remaining funds after the third semester are non-refundable.

Withdrawals:

Students who withdraw from UFV and move out of housing during the academic year may be eligible for a partial refund of the mandatory Meal Plan fee pending approved early termination as per the Housing Contract. Early terminations resulting from a breach of compliance to the terms of the Housing Contract are not eligible for a refund.

Withdrawals of optional Meal Plans received prior to the first effective date of the Meal Plan will be fully refunded. Once the Meal Plan begins, optional Meal Plans are not eligible for a refund.

Lost Cards:

Report lost cards to the Campus Card office immediately.  Students are responsible for all transactions made with the card until it has been reported.
