Biography

Fizza Haider is a post-secondary educational professional with 5+ years of experience instructing students and supporting their access to learning. Her professional philosophy centers on designing environments and experiences in which students with a range of abilities and interests can meaningfully participate. She has demonstrated skill and success in these areas through a multi-disciplinary team process of consultation and collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and external campus and community partners. Having a Masters (MA) in Educational Psychology, she has drawn upon her understanding of evidence-based instructional strategies and frameworks such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the POUR framework for accessible design, and the Multimedia Learning Theory (MMLT) to develop training workshops and resources for diverse audiences including educators, educational technology specialists, and instructional designers, guiding them in the practical application of these theoretical principles to lesson and course planning. Most recently, she has worked as a Learning Experience Designer – Accessibility at the University of Victoria.
