Silversmithing Beginner I

Cost: $410

This beginner class has been designed to introduce students to the basic skills and techniques involved in silversmithing.  Whether you are making jewelry for yourself, for gift giving or if you are interested in forging a path to becoming a silversmith this course is a fun way to learn something new.  Over this 6-week hands-on program, you will learn the foundational skills of silversmithing.  Students will complete 2 projects: one pendant and one ring, each project focusing on different areas of metalwork.  You will be introduced to commonly used tools, aspects of design, piercing, sawing, bezel making, stone setting, and soldering.

A basic silversmithing tool kit is required for this class, which can be purchased for $190.  Sterling silver and gemstones will also be available for purchase in the form of project kits. The estimated cost of each project kit is $60-80; this cost is dependent on metal quantity and stone choice.  No previous experience is necessary.

Silversmithing Beginner II

Cost: $410
Prerequisite: Beginner Silversmithing I or instructor permission

This Beginner Silversmithing II class is designed to expand upon the basic skills and techniques learned in Beginner Silversmithing I. Whether you are a hobbyist or on the path to becoming a silversmith, this class is perfect for you. Throughout this 6-week hands-on program, you will continue to enhance your foundational silversmithing knowledge. The class includes the completion of two projects: a prong set pendant and a meditation ring. You will be introduced to new tools and explore different aspects of design, further developing your sawing skills, creating settings, practicing stone setting, and refining your soldering techniques.

A basic silversmithing tool kit is required for this class, which can be purchased for $190 if not already purchased for level I.  Sterling silver and gemstones will also be available for purchase in the form of project kits.  The estimated cost of the first kit is $60; this cost is dependent on metal quantity and stone choice.

Intermediate Silversmithing I

Cost: $410
Prerequisite: Silversmithing Beginner I & Silversmithing Beginner II

This course aims to build upon the skills acquired in the beginner classes and elevate them to a higher level. Over the course of six weeks, participants will explore new tools and techniques in the field. The focus will be on two projects that involve forming: crafting a cuff bracelet and creating a pendant with a one-fold form.

A basic silversmithing tool kit is required for this class, which can be purchased for $150.  Sterling silver and gemstones will also be available for purchase in the form of project kits.  The estimated cost of the first kit is $50; this cost is dependent on metal quantity and stone choice.  Prerequisite:  Must have completed Beginner Silversmithing II or equivalent.
