Biography

Anna Griffith is an interdisciplinary scholar-practitioner in the School of Creative Arts. She specializes in praxis-based teaching with an emphasis on interdisciplinary creativity and arts-based Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Her research and facilitation work sits at the intersection of creativity, sustainability, and EDI. She holds a doctorate from York University in Theatre and Performance Studies. Her dissertation, “Excursions Into Otherness” focused on constructions of whiteness and racial privilege within movement practices. Anna also holds an MA in Theatre from York University and a BFA in Dance from Simon Fraser University. She has a certificate in Education for Sustainable Development from Earth Charter International and the United Nations University for Peace, and she is currently completing a certificate in Sustainable Leadership from the Institute for Sustainable Leadership. Her mission is to teach with the future in mind, offering her students opportunities to collaborate across disciplines and consider how their creative work can help build a more just and sustainable world. Anna’s current research projects include “The Creativity Lab for Climate Resilience” and “Regenerative Education: Aligning ESD and Indigenous Pedagogies.”
