When do you need to submit your application?
To allow adequate time for protocol reviews and agenda preparation, requests must be received by the Human Research Ethics Board in ROMEO by noon on Thursday, two weeks before the meeting date. Applications that are incomplete or not developed enough will not be placed on the agenda. Deadlines for submission are strictly observed.
New Course-based research applications must be submitted by the deadline. Late applications will not be approved in time for the upcoming semester.
These timeframes apply to ‘review ready’ applications, namely applications that have been submitted to a high-quality standard, have complete supporting documents, and are fully developed. A project will only be reviewed when it has been determined that all the information and materials submitted are sufficient to be able to properly conduct an ethical review.
We are not able to guarantee a turnaround time. Turnaround time varies due to a number of factors. Please ensure you have planned well in advance of known research deadlines or course timelines.
Course-based research application renewals can be submitted anytime, but they all have an expiry date of Aug 31.
Important Note: There is no deadline for minimal risk applications. Please submit your project at any time and the Chair and Vice-Chair will determine if it can be delegated.
Meetings are at 4 pm Thursday Week 4 of the UFV meeting schedule (*some exceptions due to holidays). The HREB does not meet in July or August.
