UFV Peace and Reconciliation Centre Funding and Scholarship Opportunities – Various UFV PARC Ongoing Amount: $250 to $3,000 (varies). For UFV faculty and students, visiting scholars, and community artists and activists. Accepting applications until funds are exhausted. Internal
Tri-Council Funding for Post Doctoral Scholars NSERC, SSHRC and CIHR Ongoing Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers play a crucial role in Canada’s research ecosystem by pushing the frontiers of knowledge.  External
Genome Canada GAPP Ongoing Genome Canada has relaunched the Genomic Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) and is actively accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI).
Amount: Up to 1/3 of the project budget with a max of $2 million.

Health Research BC match funding Michael Smith Health Research BC Ongoing We provide match funding to qualifying BC-based researchers and research teams who are applying to non-BC government-funded research competitions that require applicants to source match funding as a condition of the application. SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships SSHRC 2022-09-15

SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships are expected to respond to the objectives of the Talent program. These fellowships support the most promising Canadian new scholars in the social sciences and humanities, and assist them in establishing a research base at an important time in their research careers.  
Amount: $45,000 per year.


Canada Excellence Research Chairs 2022 competition


The program offers eligible Canadian, degree-granting institutions an opportunity to establish highly funded research chairs in the Government of Canada’s ST&I priorities for the CERC and CFREF programs.

Partnership Engage Grants  SSHRC 2022-09-15 Partnership Engage Grants are expected to respond to the objectives of the Insight program and the Connection program. Valued at $7,000 to $25,000 for one year. External
New Frontiers in Research Fund: 2022 Transformation competition NFRF 2022-09-20

The objective of the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF) Transformation stream is to support large-scale, Canadian-led interdisciplinary research projects that address a major challenge with the potential to realize real and lasting change.   
Amount: $2,000,000 to $4,000,000 per year.

Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships  Government of Canada 2022-09-21

Up to: $70,000 over 2 years.

SSHRC and WAGE Gender-Based Violence Research Inititive (GBV)
 SSHRC, WAGE 2022-10-06 The Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Research Inititive launched by SSHRC and Women and Gender Equality Canada (WAGE), seeks to support academic researchers to advance knowledge on, and analyze the causes and persistence of GBV in Canada.  
Amount: Up to $700,000 over 4 years.
SSHRC Explore Grants UFV 2022-10-11

Explore grants are to support small-scale Social Science and Humanities research projects for researchers at any stage in their careers. Funds are provided by SSHRC and adjudicated/distributed by UFV.
Amount: Up to $7,000.

Intake twice a year: March 1 and October 1

Fullbright Scholars US  Fullbright 2022-11-15

Fulbright Canada Research Chairs are intended for Canadian citizens who are exceptional scholars and/or experienced professionals who wish to conduct research and/or lecture in the United States. 
Amount: Up to US$50,000.

UFV Sabbatical Leave UFV 2022-11-15

Knowledge Synthesis Grant: "The Shifting Dynamics of Privilege and Marginalization" SSHRC / Genome Canada 2022-12-15

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) has launched a Knowledge Synthesis Grants funding opportunity to assess the state of research knowledge on the topic of “The Shifting Dynamics of Privilege and Marginalization”, under SSHRC’s Imagining Canada’s Future initiative

Amount: $30,000.

TANAKA FUND Grant to Support Promising Junior Japanese Studies Scholars 2023 Tanaka Fund 2023-01-08

Funding is made available for the support and promotion of Japanese studies at universities and colleges in Canada.  

Annual value: Total of $60,000 for this year's awards

Masters or Doctoral level students: Grants up to $10,000

Duration: Maximum of three months in Japan.

NSERC Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) NSERC 2023-01-13

The Postdoctoral Fellowships (PDF) program provides support to a core of the most promising researchers at a pivotal time in their careers.
Amount: Up to $45,000 per year for two years.
