Convocation

Student checklist

1. Apply to graduate

If you're expecting to attend Convocation, you must have already applied to graduate from UFV and received confirmation of completion from the Office of the Registrar.

The deadline to apply for graduation has now passed. If you haven't yet confirmed your participation as a graduand please contact graduation@ufv.ca with your request and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

2. Find out which convocation ceremony you should attend

UFV is hosting six Convocation ceremonies over the three days of June 13, 14, and 15. There are two ceremonies per day at 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM on each day. You'll be assigned to a Convocation ceremony based on your academic program.

3. Order your graduation cap and gown (regalia) now

If you are a graduating student attending Convocation, you must rent a cap and gown (regalia) to wear at the ceremony.

You need to reserve your regalia before requesting tickets for your guests, so we recommend ordering your regalia as soon as possible (and no later than May 26). After this date, guest tickets may be limited.

  • Before May 26, 2023 ($50 early bird rate)
Regalia can be ordered and paid for online at the early bird rate until May 26 at 11:59 PM. Please bring your proof of reservation with you to pick up your regalia on the day of your ceremony.

  • Between May 27 - June 6, 2023 ($75 rate)
You can reserve your regalia using the online form, but the online payment portal will be closed. You will need to bring payment (credit card, bank card, cash) on the day of your ceremony. After you reserve your regalia, you may still request guest tickets but there may only be a limited number available.

  • On-site on the day of your ceremony ($90 rate)
You can rent your regalia on the day of your ceremony in Evered Hall. Please join the line for on-site gown rentals after you check in. Please bring payment (credit card, bank card, cash) with you to rent your regalia on the day of your ceremony.

4. Reserve your guest tickets

You can reserve up to four guest tickets for your Convocation ceremony. Seating is not assigned. Cushions are encouraged. A live-stream viewing area is available on campus for those who would like to celebrate with you but do not have a ticket.

Update for graduands and guests:

As of June 9, 2023 some Convocation ceremonies are approaching capacity. If you haven't yet confirmed your participation as a graduand please contact graduation@ufv.ca with your request and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. For those ceremonies that have reached capacity guests may be directed to an overflow space where the ceremony will be live-streamed.

7. Celebrate with family and friends

Flowers and UFV apparel will be available for purchase on location if your loved ones would like to mark the occasion with a gift. They can also review gift options and pre-order if they prefer.

Following the ceremonies, you are invited to the UFV Alumni Celebration Plaza to celebrate with your classmates, capture memories at one of the photo booths, and enjoy refreshments with friends and family.

If your guests can't make it to the ceremony, they can celebrate your accomplishments from wherever they are online. Ceremonies will be livestreamed and available for viewing online.
