Tuition and fees for 2024-2025

Your total amount each semester will include tuition fees, ancillary fees, experiential learning & wellness fees, and student union & society fees. Your total will also depend on your course load (the number of courses you take) and whether you are a domestic or international student.

Domestic students – tuition & fees

Your course load will depend on the program you are enrolled in as well as your personal circumstances and goals.

  • To be considered a full-time undergraduate student, you typically need to enroll in 9 credits per semester.
  • A standard course load is 15 credits per semester for most programs. This would allow you to complete a full Bachelor's degree in four years, taking the summer semesters off.
  • Many students choose to take 9 - 12 credits per semester.
  • Some programs (for example Trades) have a set course load.

You're encouraged to discuss your course load with your Academic Advisor before you register for courses.

Learn more about UFV's course load policies in the Academic Calendar.

The ancillary fee provides support for activities, athletics, library and technical services, student software, and student spaces. It's set at 10% of tuition, and is charged per credit.

The Experiential Learning & Wellness fee provides support for students in the form of experiential and co-curricular learning opportunities, expansion of the Co-Curricular Record, health & well-being, and peer mentoring. It is set at 2% of the tuition.

UFV collects fees on behalf of the Student Union Society, the Cascade Journalism Society, and UFV Campus and Community Radio every semester. Learn more about student union & society fees.

  • International students are expected to take courses full-time during the fall and winter semesters. Full-time attendance is based on a minimum of 12 credits.
  • Most courses are worth three credits, so 12 credits usually equals four courses. Please note that any student who takes less than 12 credits in the Fall and Winter semester will still be charged for 12 credits.
  • If you are taking courses in the summer, there is no course load requirement. You can study part-time and your tuition is calculated per credit.

Every student contributes to the student union and student societies. These fees also include a public transit pass for unlimited access to nearly all local transit.

To learn more about these fees, visit the Student union and society fees page.

You must have medical insurance to cover any health care and dental costs and emergencies while you are in Canada. This fee is charged per semester.
