A prerequisite is a requirement that you must meet before you take a course, while a corequisite is a course that you must take at the same time. You may take some requirements as either a prerequisite or corequisite.
Because UFV wants you to succeed, prerequisite and corequisite requirements have been established to ensure you are adequately prepared for your courses in both knowledge and skill.
You can find pre- and corequisite requirements in the Course Descriptions section of the current UFV calendar. Review requirements prior to registering, to ensure that you are eligible to take each course.
Unless otherwise stated, a minimum grade of C- is required for prerequisite courses.
You must meet prerequisites when you register; otherwise, you will receive an error message and will be prevented from registering or waitlisting for the course.
If you are able to resolve the prerequisite problem or obtain a prerequisite waiver, you can try again to register.
Contact your instructor. He or she may provide a prerequisite waiver.
Prerequisites are checked against your student computer record. If you believe you have a prerequisite, but are still getting an error message, the prerequisite may be missing from your student record.
Processing can take time. In the meantime, you may need to show your instructor a copy of your transcript/score, and request permission to waive the prerequisite.
If a required course is in progress at UFV when you register, the system will determine whether or not you meet the prerequisite when your instructor enters your final grade. If you have not met the prerequisite, you will be withdrawn without notice.
