Prepare for entry into British Columbia's growing creative economy with one of UFV's hands-on programs in Graphic and Digital Design. Choose from the Graphic and Digital Design Diploma or the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Graphic and Digital Design Major, Minor or Extended Minor programs.

Attend one of our portfolio info nights for an introduction to the creative industry and UFV's Graphic + Digital Design programs. Instructors, students, and grads share real-world experiences, provide feedback and advice on building a strong entrance portfolio, answer questions, and share experiences. Attendance is strongly encouraged.

Choose your program

Degree

Graphic and Digital Design Major, BFA

The Graphic and Digital Design (GDD) Major in the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) offers several pathways for completion.

  • Enter the two-year Graphic and Digital Design diploma and choose the GDD Major at the end of year one
  • Begin the BFA as a new or continuing student and declare the GDD Major after completion of 30 credits
  • Ladder into year three with a two-year graphic design diploma or part of a design degree completed

Graphic and Digital Design Minor, or Extended Minor

Begin any degree at UFV as a new or continuing student and declare a GDD Minor or Extended Minor after completion of 30 credits. 

 

Diploma

The Graphic and Digital Design diploma is a full-time 60-credit cohort program offered on the Abbotsford campus with fall and winter intake available.

Apply to UFV

Complete UFV's online application and pay the application fee.

Fall Intake:

Application + Portfolio submission deadline: April 30

International student application and portfolio submission deadline: April 1

 

Winter Intake: 

Application + Portfolio submission deadline: September 30

International student application and portfolio submission deadline: September 1

Find your submission guidelines according to the program of your choice:

GDD Diploma Entrance Portfolio Requirements

BFA Entrance Portfolio Requirements (declare the GDD Major after completion of 30 credits)

Please follow the portfolio guidelines carefully and submit all the required items via Slideroom

If you are applying to the Graphic and Digital Design major in the BFA and already have some post-secondary credit or have completed the Graphic and Digital Design diploma, you may be eligible for entrance without a portfolio. Please review the BFA entrance requirements in the Academic Calendar.

Notification of acceptance

All accepted applicants will receive a letter of acceptance from the Office of the Registrar. To accept your offer and secure your seat in the Graphic and Digital Design program, pay your $200 registration deposit. View payment methods.

Register for courses

Follow the steps to find out how to register and use the myUFV portal to find your pre-assigned registration time.

Fall Intake
Registration begins mid-June, deadline to register is end of June.

Winter Intake
Registration begins mid-November, deadline to register is end of November.

Note: Any applicant who does not register will be replaced with a waitlisted applicant.

Note:

  • Equipment and software requirements (MacBook Pro laptop and Adobe CC) will be finalized six weeks before the term start. New students will receive an email notification in their student email with equipment specifications and important details. Questions?   • New GDD program students are required to attend one mandatory GDD lab orientation session taking place during the second week of classes.
